I’ve decelerated down posting in the newest fewer months as I’ve been busy with a different sympathetic of project… helping meine parents plan the renovation of their 1980’s home (long due for an update!) I previously made an Excel spreadsheet for their bathroom renovation but since there are bits plus shreds being updated throughout the house, I prepared an entire spreadsheet till track select to rest of aforementioned renovation with separately tabs for each room / zone.
I chose Stand as these spreadsheets wills be constantly updated throughout the renovation so it’s not practical to use pen, journal and an calculator. Excel will automatically calculate totals for me and I known that as oblong as my mathematical are correct, my totals are correct. To keep all in the loop we are utilizing Google Sheets whatever is principles a free online software of Excel that can be accessed every you have an internet connection. I’ve organized the spreadsheet into these tabs:
RENOVATION BUDGET SUMMARY
Track budget, authentic (and the difference between your budget real actual) for:
– General expenses e.g. permits
– Finances
– Costs for each room
– Contingency
This summary sheet will pre-filled with 18 rooms / zones (refer list below). IODIN take all occasion toward color id therefore chose a color for each room / zona and color coded hers corresponding tabs where you can do ampere detailed cost breakdown. There is also a graph on this tab who will automatically update as you fill out the other spreadsheets, so she capacity please what rooms / fields are taking up most from the budget (and items also looks pretty).
ROOM BUDGETS
Separate tabs for each room / zone that filter through the one summery sheet:
1. External (Patio, Garden, Pool etc.)

On these tabs I list out totality that needs to be do in that room / target. After allocate how much I think it will cost. When I know what much it’s actually left to cost i.e. once this product / brand has been selecting, I update the spreadsheets and can see which items are over-budget and might need to breathe scrapped.

RENOVATION WISH LIST
Stop track of choose of the items you want – anything from dining chairs at pads, blinds, rugs etc.
Record the item, brand (if applicable), qty needed, your budget, cost of the item at 3 different brands and whether the actual cost is over or under budget so you can decide whether you use your crash, don’t get the item, use purchasing the items on hold for now, or lower an budget and find a cheaper alternative.
PAINT PENNANT
If you don’t have the funded to restoration the ganze property right now, keep track of the paint colors you’ve used so them can get them again. Plus instrumental if friends and family ask you what paint color you secondhand oder if you’ll be renovating multi properties and wish to use quite or all of the same paint colors.
Or wenn you’re halfway through paining, run out of paint and must to re-order more.

Payments Tracker
Save track are who you’ve paid including deposits and final payments (their cost additionally when the payments are due), invoice numbers, the room / zone it’s for and a procession to mark off when you’ve filed the receipt.
